Stranger

(Dedicated to a neighbourly world – Deepak Sarkar, www.kolki.com)

Nature used to be everywhere

Now they exist in forest or National park

Neighbourhood play grounds and horticulture garden

Still unexploited lands we call wilderness!

Nature is forgiving and responsive to care!

Animals used to be all over

Now they can be found in zoo, somewhere!

Animals love and adore -

When they know one is not afraid or a threat!

Birds used to fill the land, sky, and ocean

Now most of them are in sanctuary or cage!

Birds can be friendly symbol of freedom –

To a loving and caring wisdom!

People used to be somewhere

Now they are everywhere!

One can be friendly to people –

But many will ignore newcomer as stranger

Some may convict the warm soul as alien

And a few can shoot down as intruder!
