Funeral

(Dedicated to Triana, a daughter never born, 7/29/1999)

Darling! It was so nice to hear from you

And feel your voice once more in my soul!

I am so relieved knowing you were having wonderful time

When I was going through nightmares

And all known relatives and my colleagues

Were praying for your safe return!

The letter from your lawyer never arrived -

Someone left a message for you from ‘Action Court

But never returned my phone call!

I was worried and felt like a dead man

Since your sudden disappearance

Wasn’t the part of the plan you discussed

And we all had the worst fear

As you were staying alone in Grand Hotel

With your luggage, laptop, cash and jewellery!

I never stopped praying –

Just to know that you were safe and well

As I gathered all my strength

To bring you back, even from hell!

Now that you told me a part of your story

I won’t bother you anymore!

But I will still love you as before –

Because love is something one can’t take back!

Now I will be able to die in peace –

Knowing that my darling is happy

Getting what she always wanted to have

What I could never offer!

I know, I will never get the answer –

How someone so known becomes so much distant!

But I will be happy knowing

That you are having a wonderful time

As they prepare my funeral!
